7·6 months agoFor the reporters and AI accusers:
I have reached out to OP and confirmed that they are not a bot. They have posted an explanation here: https://lemmy.world/post/31487746
They were simply trying to give helpful cat tips and were using an unusual writing style which unfortunately came off as LLM generated.
To the several people who reported this post:
This community does not have a ban on AI generated images. Especially ones as silly and harmless as this.
Should a user abuse AI generated images, such as spamming them, then action will be taken against them. But one-off silly images like this are fine.
There isn’t anything wrong with a comment section discussing a subject related to the post even if that subject isn’t what the community is about.
If someone posted a picture of a cat-shaped pizza then it’d be fine for that post’s commenters to discuss pizza in general.
I prefer to allow posts with controversial subjects that don’t otherwise violate any rules, such as AI generated images, because it allows for important conversations.
I would rather allow the occasional AI image be posted so that people can discuss why AI images are bad.
No need to be sorry. I’d step down as mod if dealing with stuff like this was too much work for me.
Plus this isn’t the first time a post with an AI image has gotten this kind of response. I just copy-pasted the same comment I made the last time this happened.

cats@lemmy.world•My void is broken, it only eats green vegetablesEnglish
411·1 year agoReport: Not a cat
OP is just riffing on the current void trend, so I’ll allow it.
If the community starts getting spammed with people making the same joke then I’ll start removing posts.
It’s as soft as it looks.
My cat rejects me taking my hand back.

Never played it either. Looks like it asked random trivia questions that I guess kids wouldn’t know.

Games@sh.itjust.works•XCOM developers start new studio to take on The SimsEnglish
18·2 years agoFor anybody thinking this new game will be anything like XCOM prepare for disappointment.
Jake has previously said that he is leaving turn-based tactics games behind.
And his tweet announcing Midsummer even says “it’s going to seem very different from what I’ve done before.”
edit: There is some good news for turn-based tactics fans. Another studio founded by former XCOM devs is focusing on turn-based games.

4·2 years agoI don’t know that the Japanese game industry has had layoffs like the west has.
I’m reminded of the time Satoru Iwata cut his own salary to avoid layoffs at Nintendo.

I received some reports, so I want to confirm that I verified that the OP is in Corfu and is at the very least taking care of many cats. She shared ID, vet bills, and a time stamped photo with several of the cats.
That said I have no way to verify all of her story and, as commenters have pointed out, her $100,000 goal and AI generated donation page description are suspicious. I think I was too hasty in allowing the donation link. I will leave this post up, assuming OP removes the donation link in a timely manner.
I’ve reached out to OP to take down her donation link. And requested that she post updates on the cats for several weeks, how they’re doing, and what she’s doing for them. If she can provide consistent updates then I’ll reconsider allowing her donation link.
